Good Afternoon families of McKenzie-Smith Bennett PS,
What a wonderful start to the school year. We have been having so much fun reconnecting with your children. We want to extend a thank you to all caregivers for honouring our pylon barriers during drop-off and pick-up. We want to ensure a safe perimeter and your attention to this has been very helpful. We will continue with the perimeter this week with the hope of parents establishing a drop-off and pick up routine for the coming weeks. As a reminder MSB Staff supervision begins at 9:00am in the morning and supervision ends at 3:50pm in the afternoon. Thank you for your support in keeping your children safe.
We kindly ask that parent/guardian(s) label all water bottles, shoes, clothing items with student name and class in order to ensure that lost items are easily returned.
If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to Michelle Mendes - Vice Principal (mendesmi@hdsb.ca) or Jeff Chaisson - Principal (chaissonj@hdsb.ca).

Good Afternoon families of McKenzie-Smith Bennett PS,
We know that the beginning of another school year is an exciting time for all students and staff. We would like to thank our staff, who have worked really hard to create engaging spaces for all of our students. We also would like to extend a thank you to our Custodial Staff who have done a spectacular job in getting our school ready for student return.
This email will outline some very important information that will help make the transition back to school a little easier.
Please remember that we begin school on Wednesday, September 03, 2025. Supervision will begin at 9:00am. Classroom teachers will be outside with a sign to help navigate all students to the right spot.
Today after 4:00pm, a student placement message will be emailed directly to parents/guardians. In it, you will learn the name and class code of your child’s teacher. Our staff have worked very hard and considered student’s needs to create classes. Due to the many factors that go into the process of class building, we will not be entertaining requests for class placement change at this time.
If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to Michelle Mendes - Vice Principal (mendesmi@hdsb.ca) or Jeff Chaisson - Principal (chaissonj@hdsb.ca).

Back to School Materials
The school provides all necessary materials (pencils, workbooks, paper, etc) for school work. We have water stations at school and encourage families to send children with refillable water bottles. Where possible, we also encourage children to wear non-black soled running shoes to limit the marking of floors, especially in the gym.
